There are no translations available.

On the day it was published the data on the tax returns
of parliament members and it turns out (it's not really a news) that Silvio Berlusconi is the richest, (in
2009 he declared more than 23 millions euro), is even more important to talk
about those who have no money enough to eat. In a wonderful island in the southern Italy, of which everyone could fall in love, some workers are on hunger strike since 3 days.

Practically the entire staff of the Bolzaneto barracks during the days of the G8 in Genoa in 2001 was convicted of abuses and violences against the demonstrators arrested. Police officers and penitentiary agents, and even the 4 doctors serving in the barracks: 44 people were convicted. The judges have spoken of torture, but the crime does not exist in Italy, and the sentences after 9 years have all fallen under a statute of limitations.

Cie, Cara, CdA:
Italian symbols behind which are hidden dramatic stories of survival of many illegal
immigrants who, every day, arrive in Italy looking for a better way beyond their borders. The detention centers should "accept" or "identify" immigrants. But usually they become prisons from which people get out devastated. Not healthcare, not legal support, inadequate social and psychological support, without any kind of services, small spaces in which to live. This is what Medecins Sans Frontieres saw visiting Italian centers for migrants.

There are no translations available.

The right definition for the short trial, already approved by the Senate, on
January 20th, and now under discussion in the House, was given by Antonio Ingroia, deputy prosecutor of Palermo, in an interview with the journal l'Unità where he called it a "law of quick death for trials". Justice will no longer bring the calm to
those who have suffered damage, but simply will finish to destroy the already devastated judicial machinery. Latest victims: the dead of the earthquake in l'Aquila.

"From this sentence the public expect to know if it is legal, for the Italian state, to be taken without a reason from hospitals, transported in a military police station and remain detained there for hours, kneeling, beaten, insulted."
These were the last words used by prosecutor Marco Del Gaudio in his indictment
to demand the condemnation of those agents that in March 2001, in
Naples, subjected to unprecedented violence 85 demonstrators.

The apartheid, racial segregation between whites and blacks in South Africa was in force until 1994 and in the United States in practice until the 60s. But those situations were determined by historical roots going back two or three centuries. Italy however is building its apartheid in less than twenty years. Before 1989 immigration in our country was so limited as not to be significant, but today we have race riots and school classes with a 30% maximum of foreigners.

If you treat men like slaves, their only chance to defend their rights will be a violent uprising. What happened in Calabria is the result of years of criminal indifference on the part of citizens, national and local politics, to the benefit of organized crime. Immigrants who work in agriculture, in Calabria, as in many other places in Italy, live in inhumane conditions, controlled by a system of overseers. And their situation suits many.

This summer when some policemen were convicted of murder for the absurd deaths of Riccardo Rasman, Federico Aldrovandi and Gabriele Sandri seemed possible that was ending the impunity that so far in this country has always allowed the police to not respond to anything even when they commit terrible crimes.
