Relatively short time passed from when circulated widely the rumors about the alleged Pdl candidates in European elections: an array of soubrette, showgirls and actresses who were then promptly erased to give way to people more presentable.
And perhaps, when the first rumors spread no one would have thought that the epilogue would have been the outburst of a woman, Veronica Lario, exasperated for years by the behavior of her husband. Few would have believed that it would come to read on newspapers all about their relationship, would have even thought of seeing a radiant Bruno Vespa to have exclusively in his show the President of the Council trying to regain face.
For once, though, what the premier says or does will not be taken into account. But on the "abuse" of women maybe we should stop and think. Because so many have done in these days and perhaps even more have done today, after the last night episode of Gad Lerner L'Infedele on La7, where was discussed the image of women.
For those who, among those of us who write, grew in the'80s there isn't shock in front of a woman more or less clothed. Were the years of Drive In, of Colpo Grosso, the girls coccodè and see a young woman in a tiny bikini could be seen as a way to make career in the world of television. A distance of twenty years and despite the process of empowerment that women should have done, walk in a bikini is still regarded in Italy a way for a career in TV.
What is worse is that it can be seen as a way to make political career. And this time, as a woman, I suspect that they always want to fall into a misunderstanding. As saying, one can not criticize a woman who decides to do politics just because she is beautiful, just because in the curriculum has some naked pictures, just because she is lighter on the stiletto heels, or because she is too young. What is critical is that the woman in question has no politics competence, knows nothing of economics, perhaps does not understand the difference between gross domestic product and the greenhouse effect and will not be a training course of one week or a month to make her acquire skills.
Because the final project, which for now will have to wait a little, is to make the political world increasingly remote from reality, as happened with television.
Eliminating women and replacing them with so many bodies, a representation increasingly vulgar and demeaning. Lorella Zanardo, author of The body of women, a documentary about the woman's body on television, says it well in her blog: "the abolition of women's identity is happening under the gaze of all but without there being an adequate reaction, nor even by women themselves". So she shot a short video of 25 minutes that tell our television through the images that transmits on women. And there aren't pictures of the night, but from the morning and afternoon programs. Images that try to make see what happens to the many who now aren't shocked anymore.
"It seems as if the flesh is no longer enough" and then images come to the rescue. Now would be questionable whether the debate that was born from the discussion that is being done in recent days about the role of bodies on television, will finally create a reaction. Yet what discouragement is that once again all will be silenced. Veronica Lario remain the exception that reacted against this "image that offends us."
Then in one way or another the issue will be put aside. The European elections will come and there will be much more tired debates to do. We will speak no more of soubrette or wannabe, but these will continue to shake their naked bodies in front of the cameras. We'll all go back to the initial numbness.
Unless the voice goes around, just among women, and we decide to react, all together, as our mothers did when they tried to win the true emancipation.

Personalmente, temo che in italia poche persone vedano in quel che sta succedendo uno spunto di riflessione come quello che si presenta in questo articolo, o come gad lerner su la7 possa presentare in maniera piu' o meno irritante..
Dopo anni di lavatrici mentali con la de filippi su canale 5 o peggio!! la d'eusanio su rai due, e tutte le altre compagne di merenda e banchetti pseudoemozionali, alcune volte quasi si spera che le donne in tv, e quindi nel mezzo di comunicazione piu' facilmente fruibile e raggiungibili da tutti, si ritirino a ballettare e soubrettare.. [e qui lo so, so cosa state pensando, in TV ci sono anche ben altre donne, ma quelle le vediamo e seguiamo noi..]
Ma sopratutto, 90% delle persone che leggono/guardano/ascoltano questi racconti sono spinti solo dalla curiosita' di vedere "come va a finire", di vedere, anche questa volta, chi il tronista - pardon - il nostro presidente del consiglio, scegliera' come compagna per la sua prossima camminata romantica sulla spiaggia in sardegna tra un billionaire e l'altro..
e intanto le prime pagine dei giornali sono piene dei loro bei due faccioni, veronica e il papi, e ad un mese dal terremoto dell'Aquila nessuno parla del decreto agghiacciante per i fondi della ricostruzione. Perche' per quello, un happy ending con tramonto sulla spiaggia proprio non lo si puo' sperare.
Credo vi sia un costante procedere nella mercificazione della donna e della sua immagine. Un avvenimento iniziato con ben altre intenzioni negli anni 60 e ancora prima con le suffragette di inizio secolo si è trasformato in qualcosa di molto diverso e si è perso di vista ciò che doveva rappresentare inizialmente: non la libertà di votare e poi successivamente, negli anni 60, di decidere del proprio corpo e di affermare le proprie capacità intellettuali per occupare determinati posti di lavoro, ma una libertà vacua. Libertà di vendersi pur di raggiungere l’obiettivo voluto, libertà di non scegliere ma di essere scelte. Mi fa sorridere il ricordo delle femministe degli anni 60 che bruciavano il reggiseno in piazza per distruggere questo simbolo di sottomissione e di schiavismo alla loro femminilità. Ora qualsiasi giornale, femminile o non, pubblicizza con grandi immagini indumenti intimi sempre più sensuali e vezzosi per essere più femminili e, perché no, per accalappiare meglio il pollo di passaggio!! Quanta strada fatta per tornare indietro ai tempi delle nostre nonne che si occupavano del corredo tutto pizzi e merletti e non purtroppo del proprio cervello, ma solo perché in quel tempo non era loro concesso!
