Turin detention centerAmong the silence of the press and taking advantage of the ignorance of most of the population Western governments are doing something that will one day be seen by our descendants in the same way we now see the slave trade. A shame without justification. Western governments imprison thousands of people who haven't committed any crime. Hundreds of others are left to die at sea and in deserts.

All to "stop" immigration, in reality a major source of wealth for the West in the last 20 years. Although immigrants have give cheap labor to the rich world and thus have allowed capitalism to survive and thrive in spite of its many contradictions, cannot be said they have been well received. Westerners are deeply racist since centuries and immigrants are always useful as scapegoats in all circumstances. And so they die trying to cross oceans and deserts, often while fleeing from war and hunger that the West has created, as happened to the Afghan refugees drowned yesterday in the Aegean Sea. Or die in concentration camps where they are detained before being deported. It happens in Italy, Europe, Australia and the United States. The Council of Europe has recently published a report of the Committee against Torture, which documents the terrible conditions experienced by immigrants awaiting deportation, and stresses that it is wrong from a legal standpoint (as well as a human and moral one) to keep innocent people in prison.
The same things that says Amnesty International about the United States and Europe. The detainees are fathers, children fleeing from war, women with husbands and children. Innocents, only guilty of having an illegal job. What is the point of prosecuting and imprisoning those who have not done anything wrong?
All this in addition to being profoundly wrong is also completely useless. In Italy there are 4 million and a half immigrants and in other European countries even more. In the United States there are 12 million undocumented immigrants. The vast majority (99%) arrived in a legal manner and then stayed. Almost everyone works, but often work only illegaly. Among them the real criminals are a very small minority, and in fact the increase in immigrants has not created any real increase in crime, as demonstrated in several studies. To fight crime, local or imported, it would first needed to give adequate funds to law enforcement, which in Italy does not happen and in fact today police is protesting against government cuts, and then implement a series of effective social policies to win back to the state the slums, things that nobody really wants to do in the Western world. Everything else is just propaganda.
In fact the total number of undocumented immigrants in Italy who are actually imprisoned is a small minority of a few thousand people. No more guilty than others, just more unlucky. And of these only a small portion is actually repatriated when the country of origin, if they can identify it, accept the return. In the United States, where immigrants are detained in tens of thousands, and the return is much easier because it often occurs on the border with Mexico, the effective return in one year were never more than 350,000, only 3% of irregular migrants.
The concentration camps created by the Western world, returns and rejections are therefore ultimately useless and inefficient policies. Now the Obama administration plans to change the system of detention of irregular immigrants who have not committed crimes, which will be housed in temporary accommodations, with a significant cost savings. But the truth is that open borders and allow immigrants to regularize themselves would cause no biblical invasion norr a social disaster. Illegal work, however, is useful to Western capitalism that has no real intention to eliminate it.The real reason behind these inhuman policies against immigrants, in addition to the cost effectiveness of having an entire section of the population frightened, insecure and exploited at will, is a deep racism. feeling much stronger than Christianity among the inhabitants of rich countries. Though actually the Europeans, and moreso Americans, are all immigrants from Asia and Africa and races never existed.

Francesco Defferrari

No to racism. A great italian demonstration against racism
Safer Italy. Innocents in jail up to six months
Refugees aren't criminals. The monstruosity of rejections to Lybia.
Extermination. The policy of Europe and Italy against refugees
First results. The security decree doing its damages
I was a stranger. Christian, the Church (and Jesus) against the security decree
Small tales of dangerous criminals. Who  the illegal immigrants really are
Like a Shame. If they are so proud of rejections, why they don't show them on television?
Welcome to a inhuman country. International organizations against the decree
Humans and not. The security decree deprives illegal immigrants of basic human rights
The colossal lie, it is not true that immigration increases crime
Blame the weakest, immigrants on barges used as scapegoats for all the problems in Italy
Criminals, the ineffectiveness of the criminalization of illegal immigrants
