Susanna and the old men by Guido Reni
Italian newspapers have published minutes of the interrogation of Gianpaolo Tarantini, the entrepreneur in Bari, Puglia, investigated for selling cocaine and abetting prostitution, who said to have brought about 30 girls at the residence of italian premier Silvio Berlusconi in Rome, Palazzo Grazioli, and in other sites between September 2008 and January 2009. Some of them received a compensation of EUR 1,000 for sexual services, other only a reimbursement of expenses, said Tarantini on July 29.

Girls for parties
"I introduced them as my friends and didn't said that sometimes I paid them" says Tarantini during the interrogation. Some girls have admitted to having participated in parties and the best known is obviously Patrizia D'Addario, 42 years, the escort who has registered his evenings and nights with Silvio Berlusconi. "I've told all about my meeting while the other girls did not. I'm the only one who told the truth. Yet I've seen them be with him."
Even Graziana Capone, 25, admits to have been at Berlusconi's parties, but she does not see anything wrong about it. "I'm sure that if the President had a harem, I'd be the favorite." Tarantini said to have presented her to Berlusconi in Milan, paying her just the airplane ticket.
In his interrogation Tarantini has reconstructed a precise chronology of the events. "Vanessa Di Meglio is a dearest friend, I supplied cocaine to her. She is not a professional but does not disdain to be paid if necessary. I also favored her sexual services with Prime Minister Berlusconi in two circumstances in Rome on September 5 and October 8, 2008"
Then there are Ioana and Barbara Guerra. The first was an "escort," the second "a woman of the show business." "On October 8, 2008, they stayed for the night at the home of the premier and for that they were paid".
"At a meeting with Berlusconi on November 23, 2008 I invited Francesca Garasi who came with three friends: Carolina Marconi,   former competitor of Big Brother on TV, Geraldine Semeghini, who in the summer of 2008 was the manager of the Billionaire club privè, and Maria Teresa De Nicolo. On that occasion I gave hospitality to Geraldine and her friend, but the only one that had an intimate encounter with Berlusconi was Maria Teresa De Nicolo, 37 years old, also known as Terry. She said: "I took part in Berlusconi's parties only once. I had 1,000 euros as reimbursement of expenses ".
Then Tarantini also talks about other occasions when he "used" TV girls: "On 17 December 2008 at Palazzo Grazioli I brought Linda Santaguida (appeared on tv on italian Celebrity Survivor) and Camilla Charao Cordeiro (showgirl in RAI 2 tv) paying only the last one who stayed for the night with the president."
Other girls have been brought by Tarantino at Palazzo Grazioli for some evenings but have not stayed for the night: Clarissa Campironi, who received a reimbursement of expenses, models Michaela Pribisova and Maristel Garcia Polanco, who on November 28, 2008 went to meet Berlusconi in a beauty farm, Luciana Francioli, who attended a dinner on December 2, Letizia Filippi, who came for a dinner too, again without any payment.
Other famous faces of Italian television attended dinners, as Francesca Lana, wiretapped while talking about the cocaine supplied to many people by Tarantini, Manuela Arcuri, her best friend, a famous italian actress and model, who attended the dinner on December 2 at Palazzo Grazioli, without being paid.
Other girls have been associated with the name of Tarantini, like Jennifer Rodriguez, Victoria Petroff, Raffaella Zardo, already involved in a scandal of showgirls in 1996, the model Eva Riccobono, all of whom have been friends of Giampaolo Tarantino or attented parties organized by him.
Sabina Began, 35, defined by some newspapers the Queen Bee, has a tattoo that said "The meeting that changed my life: SB." She is the woman who introduced Tarantini to Prime Minister Berlusconi.
Barbara Montereale, 23, was the first girl to admit that he had attended a party at Palazzo Grazioli, brought by Tarantino. She stated that Berlusconi "has been very nice, I got jewels and an envelope with a generous amount only for my presence."

Noemi Letizia
A separate chapter is the Neapolitan girl that caused the request to divorce of Berlusconi's wife, Veronica Lario, making her say that her husband is a "sick man" who "frequents minors" after the prime minister had gone to the 18 birthday party of Noemi. The friendship between the premier and the girl would be born from a friendship between Berlusconi and her father, according to Noemi and her family, but the circumstances in which the two men would have met have never been clarified. The contradictions of the case are at the heart of the 10 questions in the newspaper La Repubblica, for which the prime minister presented a complaint for defamation.

Girls in politics
Then there are the young women who entered politics in Berlusconi's party, all of them with good looks and a lot of them coming from a past in television, as models or showgirls. Among them Elvira Savino, now parliamentary in Berlusconi's party PDL, former house mate of Sabina Began and friend of Tarantini.
Or Francesca Pascale, 24 years, provincial councilor of the PDL in Naples, who declares "I love Silvio. Politics and the show business are the same thing." With Virna Bello, 28, a councilor of the PDL, and Emanuela Romano, she founded a support committee to Berlusconi. The three girls were photographed while they went at Villa Certosa in the summer of 2008. Emanuela Romano and many others had to be candidates in the 2009 European elections, but the intervention of the former wife of the premier, who called "a shameless junk" exploiting the female body for electoral purposes, blew many of the applications.
Barbara Matera, a former television announcer and actress, is the only one who managed to get to the European Parliament for the PDL. With her also Lara Comi and Licia Ronzulli, beatiful girls who anyway comes from militancy in the party of Berlusconi and not from tv.
Excluded after the protest of Veronica Eleonora Gaggioli and Camilla Ferranti, the latter also named in a matter of "recommendations" made by Berlusconi to RaiFiction national television manager Saccà  to find her a job in television. Excluded also Elisa Alloro, Angela Sozio, already photographed with the prime minister at Villa Certosa in 2007, the twins Eleonora and Imma De Vivo, Giovanna Del Giudice, Chiara Sgarbossa, Silvia Travaini, Assunta Petrone, Letizia Cioffi, Cristina Ravot, Maria Elena Valanzano, Susanna Petrone.

But the three most famous women of Berlusconi's party are surely the three ministers in office, chosen by Berlusconi after a meteoric political career to say the least:
Mara Carfagna, a former model who entered politics and quickly became Minister of Equal Opportunities. Voices of her relationship with the premier had caused an outburst of Berlusconi's wife Veronica in 2007. In June 2008 circulates rumor of wiretaps, which were then destroyed because not of criminal interest, concerning sexual relations between her and Prime Minister Berlusconi. According to the French magazine Nouvel Observateur, "there would be a hypothetical tape in which Mara Carfagna (called a "quasi-official mistress") and Mariastella Gelmini, the current Minister of Education, (the two are called "babes" in the American sense of the word) were wondering how to best satisfy the prime minister. They talked about the injections he has to do before each sexual intercourse. If this "tape" came out in the press, despite the censorship, it would be devastating to the image of the premier". Berlusconi's lawyers have sued the French magazine for this sentence, arguing that the tape never existed, and La Repubblica for having mentioned it. The tape was also mentioned by the Argentine newspaper Clarin, and taken up by the comedian Sabina Guzzanti in a demonstration in July 2008 against Berlusconi. The subsequent reaction of the Minister Carfagna had provoked an argument with Paolo Guzzanti, the father of the comedian and for years a faithful ally of the premier, who called the Italian political situation a "whorecracy".
The third minister is Michela Vittoria Brambilla, entrepreneur, who entered into politics in 2006, immediately clutched a close relationship with Berlusconi, so that the trust she received from the Prime Minister came to annoy his own allies. In 2008 she was appointed only undersecretary for health, but some months later she received a ministry too.

The events preceding
Before the recent scandals, there have been others of smaller proportions, such as phone calls between Berlusconi and the Director of RaiFiction Saccà in June 2007 in which the prime minister asked to recommend the actresses Elena Russo and Evelina Manna, to do a favor to a politician of the opposition that he wished to bring to his side. Saccà then also named Antonella Troise, Eleonora Gaggioli and Camila Ferranti as actresses that Berlusconi had asked him to help, the latter two were to be nominated at European elections in April 2009, but their application was withdrawn after the outburst of Berlusconi's wife.
Another minor scandal was in April 2007,  when the italian weekly Oggi published photos of Berlusconi in the garden of Villa Certosa, along with some girls that had already appeared in reality television: Angela Sozio is the only one clearly recognizable, the others according to some would be Valentina Gioia and Marika Suppa, but they never confirmed their presence.
Another scandal is what involved Virginia Sanjust, 32 years old, a former announcer and a descendant of a dynasty of famous Italian actors, accused by her former husband, an Italian secret service agent, to have exploited her friendship with Berlusconi to transfer him to a less paid job while they were on litigation for the custody of their child. The Sanjust would have had an affair with the prime minister between 2003 and 2006 and lived in an apartment in Campo dei Fiori in Rome that the premier had given her. The proceedings for abuse of office against Mr Berlusconi has been filed by the court of ministers since it was not possible to demonstrate the interference of the premier.
But attendance of Premier with young women, despite his two marriages, also go far back in time, there are interception in which he speaks of girls who worked in his television dating back to 1986 and the former pornstar Ilona Staller, better known in Italy as Cicciolina, said she had been with him in a Greek island in 1974, when Berlusconi was just a businessman.

The length of this list is impressive if you put all the different events in a row. But the most impressive and frightening of all is that in most countries of the world, including many of the non-democratic ones, just one of these names would have caused the immediate resignation of a Prime Minister. Even in the most innocent scenario, because in a normal country a prime minister does not go to dinner with girls who are 40-50 years younger than him, nor he appoints young women without skills in positions of political responsibility, or he would lose the consensus and the estimation of his own voters.
Instead here we are in Italy, with a head of government that has collected more sexual scandals he alone than all the other world leaders, past and present, put together.
